Britney Spears would tour Australia for the first time

Fresh off her announcement that Britney Spears would tour Australia for the first time ever, Britney Spears on Wednesday revealed that Britney Spears will also come back to North America for anbritney-spears extension of her “The Circus” tour.

Britney Spears will play arenas in 20 cities, starting with an Aug. 20 show in Hamilton, Ontario, and ending on Sept. 27 in Las Vegas. In between, Spears and company will touch down in Atlanta, Chicago, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Miami and Los Angeles, amid other stops.
Before Spears opened her “Circus” tour in March with a show in her native Louisiana, some had questioned whether Britney Spears was ready for the stress of hitting the road again. The 27-year-old singer is under the conservatorship of her father, Jamie Spears, following a high-profile meltdown in 2007 and early 2008 that included stints in psychiatric care, an ugly divorce, shaving her head and partying without panties.

But the comeback tour seems to be going all right for the pop diva Britney Spears, who is currently performing in Europe. Concert trade publication Pollstar says her elaborate revue is one of the hottest tickets in North America this year with ticket sales of $61 million. The show features 50 dancers, magicians, clowns and acrobats and a production bbritney-spears1udget of $50 million and it travels in 34 trucks, her Jive Records label said.

So with the November release of her chart-topping album “Circus” and with her song “Womanizer”scoring the singer her first No. 1 single in almost a decade, Spears seems to have proven that, if nothing else, Britney Spears can still sell albums and pack music venues.

Beauty queen Carrie Prejean Lost Crown of Miss California

Beauty queen Miss California Carrie Prejean, who ignited a furor at the Miss USA pageant by taking a stand against gay marriage, has been fired as Miss California for violating her contract, officials said on Wednesday.

Beauty queen Carrie Prejean, who nearly lost Carrie Prejean's Miss California crown last month following the same-sex marriage flap and revelations that Carrie Prejean had posed topless at age 17, failed to fulfill her duties, a pageant spokesman said.

"This was a decision based solely on contract violations including Ms. Prejean's unwillingness to make appearances on behalf of the Miss California USA organization," Keith Lewis, the pageant's executive director, said in a statement.

The pageant said owner Donald Trump, who had stood by Prejean, 22, despite the uproar over her same-sex marriage remarks and racy photos, backed her dismissal.

"I told Carrie she needed to get back to work and honor her contract with the Miss California USA organization and I gave her the opportunity to do so," Trump said in the statement.

"Unfortunately it just doesn't look like it's going to happen and I offered Keith my full support in making this decision," he said. "Carrie is a beautiful young woman and I wish her well as she pursues other interests."

Voting practices differ "American Idol" Other Popular Reality Competitions

Reality television shows are depending more than ever on viewer participation to guide the outcome of their competitions, asking audience members to vote on who stays in the jungle on “I’m a Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here!,” who should stick to a diet on “The Biggest Loser” and who keeps waltzing on “Dancing With the Stars.”

Those votes sometimes have more in common with Politburo polling, however, than with democratic elections. So when auditions for the next season of “American Idol” begin in Boston on Sunday, singers who dream of standing in the winner’s spotlight next spring will need more than just a set of well-trained vocal cords.

Their success will also depend on their ability to inspire legions of fans to devote hours to sending blocks of votes into the “American Idol” polls. But the growing role of block voting also threatens to disenfranchise the viewers who are some of the show’s most fervent fans. Just how big those block-voting efforts can get was demonstrated by Erika McMahan of Conway, Ark., who with two of her friends sent in 11,700 votes by text message on the final night of this year’
s “Idol.”

That such practices are having an outsize effect on “American Idol” results is the obvious conclusion presented by a strange anomaly that has grown over eight seasons of “American Idol.” Even as the show’s audience has declined in recent years, the number of votes being cast has risen sharply.

Just how many people are casting block votes — which seem to be at odds with the show’s own rules — is unclear. The Fox network and the “American Idol” producers refuse to reveal all but the barest details of its voting process. Since Kris Allen defeated Adam Lambert for the eighth “American Idol” crown last month, no one in a position to know has officially disclosed even the margin of victory.

The voting practices on “American Idol” differ from those on other popular reality competitions. “Dancing With the Stars,” the ABC series that is the second-most-watched show on television behind “Idol,” restricts its viewers to a limited number of votes each week, and viewer votes are combined with judges’ scores to determine the results.

“Britain’s Got Talent,” the series that generated worldwide fame for Susan Boyle this spring, reveals its final vote margins at the end of the season. That show’s producer, FremantleMedia, also produces “Idol.”

Viewer voting is undoubtedly the ingredient most responsible for the success of “American Idol,” because it creates a built-in audience for the contestants’ recordings.

A belief by viewers that their participation is meaningless if they don’t cast votes by the
hundreds or thousands could limit their interest in the show, said Susan Murray, an associate professor of media, culture and communication at New York University and the co-editor of “Reality TV: Remaking Television Culture.”

Angelina Jolie Top of the world's most powerful Celebrities

Angelina Jolie turn over Oprah. Despite banking an eye-popping $275 million last year, the queen of all media takes a backseat to actress/humanitarian Angelina Jolie on the Forbes Celebrity 100 list of the world's most powerful celebrities.

Angelina Jolie rules a top five that also includes Madonna No-3, Beyoncé No-4 and the only male in the bunch, golfer Tiger Woods No-5.

According to the magazine, Angelina Jolie notched the top spot after a year that saw Angelina Jolie's release hit films "Kung Fu Panda" and "Wanted", earn $27 million at the box office, cause quite a stir with the birth of Angelina Jolie's twins with Brad Pitt (who is no-9 on the list), continue Angelina Jolie's many philanthropic efforts and manage the non-stop tabloid coverage of Angelina Jolie's relationship with Pitt.

That buzz package beat Winfrey, who made a strong showing with earnings that again came in just under $300 million thanks to Angelina Jolie monthly magazine and a $55 million deal with XM satellite radio, despite slipping ratings for her daily gabfest.
